Marin Fair

This weekend was quite action packed. Friday Jules and Jason had boys night that started early when I dropped Jules of at J's work. Jules loves going t the office, and I don't think the folks at the office mind too much either. I was invited to go to the human rights concert at UC Berkeley and needed to get an early start. The fellas went to creek side Friday nights at the park by our apartment. There is live music and food and tons of kids. Jules had a blast I am told and met snuggles the dog, whose charm apparently left quite the lasting impression. http://www.tcsd.us/parks/creedfrnts.html

The concert at Berkeley was great. It was hosted by Margeret Cho who is hilarious. Performers included the Dresden Dolls, Debby Harry, Erasure, and Cindy Lauper who was awesome and adorable. The show was so much fun, I went with my friend Andrea and some of her friends from Rohnert Park which is just north of us. They were really fun and it was nice to have a ladies night ,which I totally needed. http://www.hrc.org/truecolors/

Sunday we went out for breakfast and then hit the Marin county Fair. We had a really great time. There is a flat entry fee and then you can ride as many rides and see as many shows as you want. We saw the sea lion show and walked through some of the hundreds of vendor tents before entering into the ride area that was where the fun was really to be had. To my surprise there were tons of rides for tots at least 36 inches tall. You'll all be happy to know that Jules is a towering 38 inches, so he pretty much had free roam. He was big enough to go on several rides by himself which was empowering for him, and I only cried for like an instant, not even an instant. A slight moment.

After dark there was a fireworks show that Julien mostly enjoyed because it was set to the star wars soundtrack. It was especially nice because all things considered there were not that many people and it felt very relaxed. After the show we told Jules he could pick one more ride before we headed home. He picked the train roller coaster and he and I talked about what a great day we had had. His favorite part was petting the cows in the 4H area even though he is highly allergic to hay and is now, as I type, on the couch with a runny nose and itchy eyes. Violent reactions aside, we had a really great weekend that almost distracted us from thinking about the fact that we are not home this week like we planned. Almost.

I adore that first picture of Julien on the ride, the look the little girl is giving him is priceless indeed!
