Bay TO Breakers

So last Saturday, I had my first real San Francisco experience. I went to the Bay to Breakers race which is a foot race from the bay to the ocean, about 8 miles or so. First of all it starts at like 8am, so I had to be on the ferry by 6:45. No big deal except the strangeness of the people on the ferry with me. An oompa loompa, a spongebob with no pants and more wigs and glitter than you can shake a stick at.

I get to the starting line and see that there are indeed legit runners prepared to race, but behind those 20 people lay a sea of wonder. Every race, color, species, size, shape, Sexual origin. Ready to run, ready to drink. Some carried their libations in mere cans and bottles while others rigged up great wondrous drinking tables on wheels. Disguised kegs in carts dressed up as go karts or small children.
I decided to go along with the crowd, and made it about 5 miles. Not running, just walking very slowly. I made up to Alamo Square which I had been meaning to do. But I digress, Such a crazy good time. Everyone was in great spirits, and I took 400 pictures, some of which are on flicker, which you can get to by following the my photos link.
Now Flicker doesn't allow nudity, so your going to have to do without the naked Elvis, or the plethora of 60+ men letting it all ahem, hang out. So be it. I made it as far as Golden Gate Park before crashing out and needing water. SO I packed myself up and headed back to reality. 5 miles back....Damn! Maybe one of these guys will help.

At Last

So Jules and I have been home for over a week now, and yet no blog. WHERE IS IT! you all have been asking yourselves. Gnashing your teeth and refreshing your screens every five minutes. OK perhaps by everyone I mean my mother. Well Jules has had strep throat and I am still unpacked, but a quick recap of our trip I can manage.

It all started nice enough, Jason took us to the airport and Jules ate a muffin the size of his head, see above photo. Then came the nightmare flight home. Canceled flights, lost planes, delayed flights, broken planes, + 35lb toddler+1 stroller+2backpacks+2 bags + 12 hours of utter chaos= us sad and pathetic sitting on the sidewalk at Lambert at 1am car less because the rental place closed at midnight.
One call to mommy and one abusively angry e-mail to American Airlines later. All was looking up. Jules and I spent our first couple days with my fam, where my dad had made up a lovely room for us. We had lunch with my cousin Lola "who buried the tot in toys", and my aunt Sandy who tossed him from one side of the room to the other playing. before going to see Jami and the kids on Friday. Jules was so stoked to see Jordan. They played and fought like no time had passed at all.

Friday night we headed to Jon's which was awesome, everyone looked good and Jules got to rock out with Jason and Jon before an intergalactic shootout of epic proportions. The Weekend was great, We were staying with Debbie and Lizzy by then and all Jasons brothers and fams came over Sunday for taco's and such. The sibs decided to race , I sat it out but Julien gave it a go.

Monday night was back to Jon's for dinner and Arm wrestling. Those guy's never saw it coming. Julien was sick, but he still won out pretty effortlessly.

Tuesday Debby took the day off work and we all went to the zoo, we rode the train and Julien got properly spoiled by his grandma.

Tuesday night I went out with Kirsten. We went to Modesto for food, wine ,catching up and a much needed night out before the much dreaded trip home. Good times.

Wednesday we got to spend a nice morning with my folks where Jules got to play ball with his mawmaw and video games with pawpaw. Then the trip home. Luckily we didn't have any issues, and made it home with no problems, wheeew. Well except all the gifts that Julien got which turned my 50lbs of luggage into 75lbs of robotic luggage that then spoke when I bumped it on my leg every ten minutes or so. Thanks guys.

All and all, pretty good trip. So good to see everybody. Sad to say goodbye again. But hopefully we will all be back in July.
